From Gowns to Masks
During this unusual time much of the world feels paralyzed and seeks ways to do good while confined to the four walls of their homes. Our fierce founder identified an opportunity to pivot her design background and sewing skills for a good cause.
Hillary has never been one to sit on the sidelines when it comes to responding to a call to action. She has pledged to make at least 300 masks to donate to health care heroes on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our Brides are our top priority and all of their looks are coming together beautifully. This is why I am confident and enthusiastic about participating with fellow makers in creating these important supplies from home” Hillary shared on Instagram
So far, Hillary herself has made 200 masks in the past 5 weeks and is focused on increasing her contribution to at least 300 masks. To help her get there, she has also made a limited number of masks for purchase as well as hand-embroidered bandanas, the proceeds from which are used to purchase mask supplies. People have been super supportive to Hillary’s effort, coming out of the woodwork to donate supplies and show support. She even got a little love from The Today Show Online.
“When I heard Gov. Cuomo say that the medical professionals who are sacrificing their lives everyday needed masks, it was a no-brainer. I knew that even small companies like mine could help so I started creating these important supplies from home,” Hillary told TODAY Style.
To further her impact, she’s helping empower others to join her. She created a video tutorial and has offered free virtual sewing lessons to those who are compelled to make masks too.
Hillary is just one person in her mask-making operation, but her efforts have reminded us of one powerful truth and that is that one person can make a difference.
