The Knot

If you happen to be in NY and wander into your local magazine shop, make sure to grab a copy of this season’s issue of “The Knot” New York. Flip to page seventy five, and you’ll find the first piece of public notoriety for Hilandel’s custom bridal designs. Although founder Hillary Anne O’Dell has been designing professionally for over ten years and focusing on custom wedding dresses for five, this publication was the reassurance she needed to take the plunge, narrow her focus, and make a public push.

Amanda, the bride that was featured in the issue was planning to customize every aspect of her wedding, and the dress was no exception. She came with a specific idea of what she wanted and Hillary hit the ground running from there. She was able to visualize the concept and create a dress that surpassed all expectations.

Hillary and Amanda bonded over their shared love for the “wildflower forest aesthetic” and discussed how the dress would manifest this theme for the ceremony. An idea emerged to give the dress a subtle green tint, which Amanda later described “as if I had just walked through the grass and picked up brush along the way”.

In contrast to the soft bohemian style of Amanda’s ceremony dress, her after party attire was made of colorful and lively sequins that fit the “metallics and rock” theme to a T. Hillary was able to design and create exactly what Amanda had imagined her wedding day attire to look like. So much so that Amanda said “I want Hillary to design my entire life based on her creative vision and incredibly hardworking get-it-done attitude that never had me stressed about the final outcome.”
