Willow Skirt : Styling
Hilandel’s Willow Skirt was created for two reasons. First: Our custom brides need something to wear for the events surrounding their wedding or, as a fantastic bridesmaid option [your friends will want to wear again!] Second: A versatile staple for any woman who wants a taste of what the custom design process is about. We know that our Willow Skirt is a timeless, ageless piece that will have you feeling and looking incredible anyway you choose to style it. However, if you need suggestions on what to wear with your new special skirt, we are excited to being you some style notes from Hilandel founder Hillary O’Dell:
Hi Friends!
Our Willow Skirt is something I would have worn 10 years ago; it’s something I’ll be happy to have in my closet 10 years from now. I really see all kinds of women wearing this. I love styling it for myself and the women in my life. Here are five looks that I’ve envisioned.
1. The Matriarch knows who she is and has a signature look. Her sense of style has developed over time. She is now in a season of life where her effortless sophisticated style leads itself to her inward strength and grace. This women pairs her Willow Skirt with a crisp tucked in Oxford, statement earrings or a classic red lip. She opts for a pair of low satin heels, and pulls the look together with a tailored blazer cinched at the waist. She keeps it simple and chic for a charity event, or her office holiday party - where she is, of course, the boss.
2. The Fashionista is coming into her own and loves a picturesque style moment. Pulling inspo from her idol, she wears her Willow Skirt with corresponding bodysuit and wild hair. You’ll find her strutting the crosswalk al la the opening credits of SATC. The midi/T length of the Willow Skirt perfectly showcases her vibrant heels, ideally Manolo’s. [Hello, Lover.] Whether she is off to brunch with the girls or window shopping - she never feels overdressed.
3. The Rebel is the coolest chick you’ve ever met. She spends her days freelancing and nights downtown at a show. She has a wide network, travels often, and has the stories to match. I see her throwing her mane into a messy top knot and pulling on her favorite worn out band tee, with a single roll at each cuff. She pairs her Willow Skirt with moto boots and a pirates booty worth of jewelry. She can rock anything, including a tutu and still look like a total badass.
4. The Traditionalist has refined taste. She lives in a tightly curated collection of staples with the occasional piece added for subtle flare. This woman seamlessly balances the full silhouette of the Willow Skirt with a fitted cashmere cardigan, or cable knit Aran sweater, the diamond studs she got for her sweet sixteen, and a beautiful pair of understated pumps. Although she is perfectly polished, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how to have a good time. This classic babe balances a luxe clutch [filled with only the essentials] under her arm, and a stiff drink in hand.
This final one …. hits close to home [ wink*]
5. The Collector’s maximalist style overflows from her closet into all aspects of her life having her apartment serve as a menagerie of her finds and favorite things. She styles her Willow Skirt with the mix of high investment pieces and low thrift store gems. She steals a dress shirt from her dude and chops it into boxy cropped perfection. Buttoned all the way up, she adorns the collar with a mix of necklaces and her grandmother’s brooch. This woman tops the look with a wide brimmed hat she had custom made on a whim while studying abroad in college. Last, she picks between sneakers and beaded pumps, lands on the pumps and then changes into cowboy boots on her way out the door.
Of course, styling the Willow Skirt is not at all limited to these personality types. I love how versatile, timeless, and season-less it is! How do you invision wear the Willow Skirt? Order yours now, make it your own, and tag #HilandelWillowSkirt on insta to be featured!
