Willow Skirt : Custom Measurements

With the launch of the Willow Skirt, We thought it would be helpful to provide a few tips on how to take your own measurements. This garment is made to measure; ensuring these measurements are accurate is key.

Tips:

Getting Started: It is best to wear tight clothing or even better, nothing at all [*wink*]

Tools: A measuring tape is optimal but if you don’t have one, be resourceful : use a ribbon, piece of yarn etc and compare the length to a ruler or yardstick.

The Measuring Tape: Never start with the end of the tape. [ Who knows how accurate that first inch is?! ] Instead, start at inch 1 and just subtract that extra inch at the end.

Be Honest: Stick to your true measurements. Don’t worry about the length or placement of the garment. These measurements are used to map your body’s proportions. Your body is unique and beautiful: no aspirational numbers please. Reflect: Stand in front of the mirror during this process. This will ensure the tape is level and prevent you from leaning over and distorting the measurements.

Measurements:

Waist: Note the actual placement of your waist. Your natural waist is the smallest part of your abdomen. This is not where your pants lie, or where your belly button is. When taking this measurement make sure you aren’t pulling the tape too tightly. Take a couple of deep breaths, relax, and take an honest measurement.

Waist to Knee: Standing in front of a mirror for this is important. You are going to take these measurements upside down. The beginning of the tape (inch 1) should be at your knee, and the measurement should end your waist [ see above*]. Do not reach down to make sure the tape is touching your knee this will distort the true measurement.

Height: If you need to measure your height you can do the time tested trick of standing up against the wall, marking it, and measuring the length from the mark down.
